From 2009 – 2010 EducAid India funded the building of a middle school (junior high school) close to the original Beldih Primary School in the north of West Bengal. The structure was complete by January 2010 and further funds were sent to pay for the roof and a supply of electricity. Amid great rejoicing the new section opened in September 2010, enabling a fresh kindergarten intake and the promotion of older pupils into the junior high school.
Two sections (primary and middle) of Beldih School now accommodate 386 children. EducAid is paying for the education of 100 of the poorer children, and continues to supply books, satchels and “tiffin”- a midday snack for every pupil.
